One of Gwen Garrison’s strongest passions is helping women improve their financial situation, despite the challenges they face. Prior to forming LifePlan Financial Advisors, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Georgia. Working for advertising and PR firms, she spent the next 15 years explaining complex medical, scientific and technology subjects in understandable ways, and she owned her own firm for five years.
A high-pressure, deadline business and three children under 5 did not mix well, so she changed careers in 1997. Gwen decided to become a financial advisor to help people make better financial decisions. She obtained her securities and insurance licenses, along with intensive training. Each year she completes more than 40 hours of continuing education.
After four years with a financial planning firm in Atlanta Gwen founded LifePlan Financial Advisors, Inc. in 2001. Out of the 200 families she serves, about 70% are headed by women. They appreciate her experience as a working single mom, as part of a blended family, and as a caregiver for her father. She understands the stressful demands of women’s lives first hand.
Gwen lives in Newnan, GA with her husband, Nick. Together, they have five adult daughters, one son and seven grandchildren. In her spare time, Gwen enjoys photography, golf, reading, and playing with the grandkids.
